Downtime is quality time!
Is your project being interrupted too often because of problems of wear and tear? Are stuck with you inefficient hours, too much downtime, costs that are too high? Or do you want to outsource your technical problems?
Then why not use the expertise and experience of W&TS? A flexible organisation, specialised in joint reflection on the problems relative to wear and tear experienced in various branches of industry and in solving the problems or reducing them in so far as possible.
Thanks to years of experience in industry and working with new materials and developments, W&TS has developed sharp technical insight. Because of this we can critically analyse the wear and tear problem in your company and give you responsible advice on how to solve or minimise your problem. How does W&TS work?
1. Analysis
Depending on the situation or the problem we can, if you so wish, make a thorough analysis of your wear and tear problem. During the analysis the current situation is carefully studied and mapped out. Why is this situation not working? What alternatives are there? What do experts elsewhere have to say about t? What solutions have already been tried and why did they not work?
2. Advice
Once your wear and tear problem has been investigated from several aspects we go to work on finding the best possible solution. In which area is the specific solution to be found? Is it in the construction, the materials, the working method? Often the solution lies in the application of a combination of (successful) techniques, already tried in the past, using the new advanced materials of today.
3. Prototypes and/or Test Run
If so desired you can opt to make a possible prototype or to start up a test run on the basis of our advice. Both options are supervised and followed up by W&TS.
4. Implementation
Time for the actual work! Once everyone is agreed on the steps to be taken, these are summarised in a technical report which you as customer can use to get down to work. In this phase too W&TS can provide you with supervision and advice – for instance when purchasing any products, materials or parts that may be required. Under supervision of W&TS these are then expertly and efficiently fitted and implemented in your technical process. And, of course, reducing the downtime has high priority here.
5. Service
Thanks to the close collaboration and involvement in the original process, the service offered by W&TS follows almost without saying: within the framework of the agreements made the work is still unfinished as long as the process is not running in the best possible fashion. If so desired, W&TS can follow up the project for you over a determined period of time. And of course you can always contact W&TS at a later date with further questions or comments.

Some examples of projects
- Development of new hardwearing materials using a combination of metals and plastics
Jointly with a supplier of polyurethane products W&TS has developed a patented system using a combination of various hardwearing types of polyurethane with all kinds of other materials. These can be all possible types of metals, both solid or in powder form, or other materials that improve the mechanical strength. We combine the positive characteristics of each of the materials to create a new optimum product. The main advantages here are the high quality, the long life and the reduced costs.
A good example of this is the PU Nozzle developed by W&TS for use in dredging. These nozzles are much less subject to wear and tear than the steel types previously used, they are much lighter and carry a lower cost price. Thanks to the application of steel and PU the mechanical characteristics of both materials are used to the best advantage.

- Practical solutions
Even if not all situations can be changed to yield an optimum solution, W&TS can still offer you a suitable solution for your problem. The undesirable wear and tear on rails and wheels in a transport system was reduced to a minimum despite the fact that the rails could not be replaced. In this case the solution lay in adjustments to the design and choice of materials for the wheels and in the use of lateral guides.

- Consultancy and monitoring
W&TS is increasingly involved in new construction in the shipping industry, especially in dredging. During the design phase and later at the construction stage W&TS supports the technical project teams with advice on and monitoring of possible wear and tear problems not detected in the design and construction phases. This puts W&TS ahead of the field as far as possible future problems are concerned. |
